The application of mathematic techniques to quantify choices among alternatives, with the goal of describing decision logic and illuminating decision space in pursuit of optimal decisions. JDSAT personnel have published research that defines decision logic in complex political systems with multiple stakeholders. These techniques blend economic theory, probability and statistics, utility theory, and systems analysis. Decision Science techniques are valuable for complex problems where other techniques can’t be applied and when subject-matter expertise must be mapped into numerical form for quantitative analysis.
